Yoga Therapy

Although all yoga is potentially therapeutic and healing, yoga therapy is the specific application of yogic tools—postures/exercises, breathwork, meditation techniques, and more—to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. Many people first learn about yoga through its physical practices, but a common misconception is that it’s all about stretching or movement. In fact, yoga therapy can help people who can’t move at all, as well as active individuals!

The yogic model of health is unique because it addresses every aspect of life rather than considering each body part or system separately. Yoga therapy is a safe way of working with the natural capacity of your body and mind to optimize well-being.

A general public yoga class can certainly ease everyday aches, pains, and mood complaints. But a yoga therapy session goes much further because it is tailored to the individual.

Yoga therapists have in-depth training to help them assess and keep their clients safe. They work with you to address your specific goals while considering any limitations you might be experiencing. The practices your yoga therapist recommends could include:

  • Movement ranging from gentle to vigorous

  • Breathing techniques

  • Meditation or visualization practices

  • Physical postures that address specific areas of discomfort or musculoskeletal imbalances

  • Any combination of tools like these!

It all depends on what you need to increase your health and well-being.

Reiki

Reiki is universal life force energy and is a Japanese hands-on healing modality that can decrease stress, mitigate pain, and promote healing. Reiki can bring balance to one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

In traditional Eastern medicine, it is said that each person is born with a certain amount of energy. Over time we use up part of that energy in the natural course of living. It gets further depleted or restricted by stress, poor nutrition, and environmental factors. When energy is depleted or stagnation of energy occurs, chronic illnesses can develop. Reiki introduces new energy into a person’s system and, as a consequence, is a healing practice for restoration, preventative care, maintenance of health, and continued personal and spiritual growth.

What to expect:

Reiki is a complementary therapy that is safe for any condition. Sessions are gentle, non-invasive, and are typically given on a massage table where the recipient remains fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for the healing energy, which flows from from the universe through the practitioner’s hands, and to the recipient’s body, mind, spirit where healing is most needed. Enhancing energy flow and removing blockages in the physical and subtle layers enhances physical wellbeing and promotes spiritual clarity to see the essence of our true selves.

Comprehensive Self-Care & Healing

This session blends the two healing practices of Reiki Jin Kei Do (the way of compassion and wisdom) and Yoga Therapy to bring comprehensive self-care to support your wellness journey beyond the session. Each session is customized for individuals to receive the hands on healing of Reiki with essential oils* and using yoga therapy to examine lifestyle factors that contribute to one’s conditions and empowers the individual to become students of their own health. Reiki can decrease stress, mitigate pain, bring clarity in challenging times, and promote healing - bringing balance to one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Together with yoga therapy practices (may include mindfulness movement, self-inquiry, breathing, sound healing, and yoga philosophy), this specialized session brings the healing into daily living and practical tools to help achieve the harmony of the mind, the body and the spirit into all aspects of our lives. Reconnect with clarity and presence of your true nature.
